how can this be done?

White Horse Rearing forward to freedom
So many questions to answer, when I have a down day I wonder if it is at all possible to become our own nation? I spoke to a friend the other day she is a strong and passionate Labour supporter if I was a good orator like my husband was I could possible let her see the way forward is independence, then sort out the political arrangements.

The truth seems to be that we can make a go of it financially in fact we would be quite well off and be able to look after our people well. But then I start to feel down again and then question what happens if those that caused this mess get hold of power and put us right back where we are!

We are a good nation with strong mores, we are good to our people, I have friends down in England and they are complaining that we get free prescriptions and cheaper if not free retirement places. How do you get people who are frightened of change to change for a good future?SNP rapped by water regulator.

Who are we?: Violence

Violence

The way to freedom, as Gandhi showed us, is not through violence. To my mind if you use aggression, it means you are as bad as others who choose violence instead of  the honorable and harder path of  ahimsa (nonviolence). It is easy to loose your temper and lash out at those on the opposite, the English people are not bad people they did not cause the wrong doing, they are having their own problems. The people I have a problem is those in power that have caused this situation, if violence is used in Scotland's name then it makes those who use aggression as bad as the people they direct it at.

Scotland has a wonderful reputation in the world with the Tartan Army "invading" and making friends, groups such as Clanadonia and The Red Hot Chili Piper's going to Italy and gaining new friends, people come from all over the world to visits Burn's birth place and to watch Edinburgh festival. In countries all over the world people want to find that a part of their history is Scottish.

Violence would only ruin this great image of Scotland, as it did for Wales with the setting on fire of cottages owned by the English in the 1980's. This way ahead is wrong, we are better than this people......

What makes us who we are?

There is a great debate on Facebook at the moment in fact it everywhere; on the street, in the shops, on the TV, and in homes. I speak of Independence for Scotland! Now I have to be honest of course, this is something my husband and I have wanted for as far back as I can remember. I lost Alan in 2009 not seeing our independence, and now it looks like it is quite possible that it will take place, it has me thinking and so it is here that I share the thoughts of an artist on a very real happening here on our shores.

Why can a film whip up such a furore when the film in question was not historically accurate? My thinking is very simple; Nations have qualities unique to what has happened to that mass of individuals, so as to say Scotland’s history has been tied up with a lot of turbulence and found that grouping together against adversity was the best way to stay safe. So what started out as families, then clans and finally a nation!
Braveheart existed he was amongst many who fought and died to bring independence to Scotland and when finally independent was gained, those in power sold it back to the English! No wonder there is patriotism here, you have to allow people to have their own identity and thrive on it and be proud of it even if some things are not as good as they yet might be!
